Dr. Jacob B. Smith, D.O.
Dr. Jacob B. Smith, D.O. was born in Homewood, Alabama. He graduated from Westminister College with a degree in Biology. Upon graduation, he went on to study medicine at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. During medical school, he served as a member in the National Honorary Osteopathic Service Fraternity, Sigma Sigma Phi. Dr. Smith earned his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006, where he graduated in the top 15% of his class (Psi Sigma Alpha). He then went on to complete an osteopathic rotating internship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Smith completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. During his final year of residency, he was selected to serve as Chief Orthopedic Surgery Resident. He then went on to complete a fellowship in spine surgery at the Florida Spine Institute in Clearwater, Florida.
Dr. Smith is a member of the North American Spine Society, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Association, Florida Osteopathic Medical Association, Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Society, Ohio Osteopathic Association, West Virginia Osteopathic Medical Association, West Virginia Orthopaedic Society, and Christian Medical and Dental Associations.
Dr. Smith’s practice specializes in all aspects of spine surgery and general orthopedic surgery with particular interest in minimally invasive surgery techniques and motion preservation technologies.
